PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE:
To obtain a challenging and responsible career in the environmental
engineering field where my education, experience and capabilities can be
fully utilized.
EDUCATION:
UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO
Chemical Engineering (Collaborative Environmental Engineering Option)
Accomplishments: Deans Honour List.
EXPERIENCE:
EXP SERVICES INC.
Environmental Scientist/Environmental Engineer
June 2007-present
Project Management
. Responsible for preparing invoices, writing proposals, scheduling, and
working within budgets.
. Regularly communicates with clients, presenting progress reports, and
results of project findings.
. Responsible for training staff on project tasks and deliverables.
Ambient Air Quality Assessments
. Indoor air quality surveys at commercial complexes, manufacturing
facilities, residential buildings, and institutional buildings. Conducted
several air quality assessments for the purpose of infection control and
odour investigations including review of building ventilation and
mechanical systems. The surveys have included initial Site
reconnaissance, air sampling, investigative measures, review of analytical
data, reporting, and presentation of results. Utilized National Institute
for Occupational Safety and Health sampling methods.
. Air quality assessments and monitoring of equipment at construction and
demolition sites. This includes real-time dust monitoring, measurement of
comfort parameters, use of weather stations, and communicating mitigation
techniques to contractors.
. Management of noise and dust control projects at construction Sites.
Involved quick response to public complaints, real-time and continuous
dust monitoring, noise monitoring, and set-up and maintenance of
meteorological and dust control equipment.
Certificate of Approval / Environmental Compliance Approval Projects
. Preparation of Certificate of Approval (Air & Noise) Applications and
feasibility studies including site visits and reporting for industrial,
institutional, and commercial facilities. The applications required
initial Site reconnaissance, data collection, review of analytical data,
modeling, emission estimating, and reporting.
. Where needed or applicable, utilized advanced modeling techniques, and
assisted clients with emission reducing strategies.
. Conducted measurements on-Site to support the preparation of Certificate
of Approval Applications.
Environmental Site Assessments
. Numerous Phase I Environmental Site Assessments including: reporting,
interviews, historical searches and site inspections for various
commercial, residential, and industrial properties. Prepared Phase I
Environmental Site Assessments under O. Reg. 153/04 for Record of Site
Condition.
. Phase II Environmental Site Assessments including: the supervision of
subcontractors, providing underground utility clearance and drilling
services, soil and groundwater sampling, groundwater monitoring and
surveying, review of analytical data, and reporting.
Energy Audits
. Preparation of energy audits to reduce energy consumption of buildings
and provide future savings to clients.
. Conducted site visits, analyzed building components, conducted interviews
with maintenance staff to gather information, and evaluated the condition
of the building components. From this analysis, I was able to suggest
modifications and develop measures for energy savings; suggest
modifications or replacement of equipment; gain an understanding of how
each measure will interact with each other; and, determine the feasibility
of each measure. Determined payback periods for suggested modifications
and prepared applications for government assistance programs.
Suncor Energy Products Inc.
Environmental, Health and Safety Intern May 2006 - August 2006
. Assisted in project management for environmental site assessment
projects, site decommissioning, and spills and leaks of Suncor's petroleum
facilities. This included borehole drilling, monitoring well
installations, surveying, soil and groundwater sampling, soil vapour
surveys, and health and safety monitoring.
. Corresponded with consultants, project managers, contractors, retail
managers, retail owners, fellow environmental health and safety
specialists, and engineers.
. Summarized environmental reports and prepared professional environmental
data tables for use in presentations and internal reports.
. Gained a familiarity of Ontario's environmental regulations applicable to
the petroleum industry.
. Undertook field and site visits developing hands on experience in the
environmental, health and safety field.
. Gained health and safety training for environmental emergencies.
ROBERTS QEP CANADA
Junior Laboratory Technician May 2005 - August 2005
. Conducted quality tests and analysis on raw materials and completed
adhesive batches to ensure product quality. This was undertaken through
analysis of test results and provided proper adjustments needed for out-of-
specification batches.
. Monitored and inspected packaging lines to ensure quality control and
efficiency.
. Assigned to be in charge of the quality control department within the
plant.
. Conducted projects for Research and Development team.
. Performed tests in a more efficient and timely manner increasing
production.
HENKEL CANADA

. Worked in a unionized chemical industrial setting, packaging adhesive
products for shipment.
. Assisted in the operation of packaging machinery.
. Met production deadlines ensuring efficiency of plant.
. Implemented industrial safety procedures and wore proper safety attire
while working in hazardous areas.
Volunteer July 2004 - August 2004
. Worked in Quality Assurance department and assisted laboratory
technicians with paper work and laboratory tests for: viscosity, pH, tag,
percent solids and hardening learning proper analysis skills and
increasing testing proficiency.
. Performed experiments for Research and Development department thus
developing analysis skills.
