Performs a variety of routine and more complex radiographic examinations.
-Receives patients, explains methods of procedure, positions patient, sets and selects
technical factors, sets up and adjust accessory equipment required, and makes exposures
necessary for the requested procedure.
-Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures such as linear tomography, void
cystourethrograms, intravenous pyelograms, barium studies, and arthrograms as well as
routine radiography. Training and experience in IV placement.
-Assists Radiologist in fluoroscopy. Following fluoroscopy, takes radiographs as requested
by the Radiologist.
-Knowledge and skill in positioning patients for a variety of radiographic examinations to
best demonstrate the desired areas, concentrating the contrast medium where necessary.
-Knowledge of basic physics including the concepts of energy, electric power and types of
electric circuits, the operating limitations of various types of X-ray tubes, etc., in order to
understand the operation of radiographic equipment.
-Monitor equipment operation, to modify standard procedures for examinations and to
determine when maintenance services are needed.
-Knowledge of emergency first aid procedures, including cardiac arrest procedures, in
order to assist patients until medical staff can arrive. Knowledge of physiology and cross-
sectional anatomy such as location, appearance and function of the various major and
minor systems.
-Independently performs Computerized Tomographic of the head and/or body.
-Monitors injection and complications of injection.
-Independently performs standardized examinations, determines appropriate thickness of
cuts and standard targeting technique necessary to complete exam.
-Confers with Radiologist to establish requirements of non-standardized examinations,
appropriate targeting techniques and or other deviations required to perform a complete
examination.
-Working knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) in an
independent work environment.
-Knowledgeable and experienced working with digital x-ray equipment such as AGFA,
Fuji, Kodak, and Konica and their digital software
-Knowledgeable in a variety of routine ultrasound examinations including, abdominal
series, OB/GYN, breast and thyroid.
