Currently assigned as a Radiological Engineer Technician overseeing the

Routine Program and Instrumentation Program.

The Routine Program is a program designed to keep track of all routine surveys

done on a frequent basis. Every month I send out cover sheets explaining the

types of surveys to be performed which includes, Radiation, Contamination,

Inspection, Soil, Air, Water, and Environmental Sampling.

In the Instrumentation Program I keep track of all instruments used in the

radiological department. I tag out, troubleshoot, source check and document

in a daily log the conditions of each instrument.

Provide support for the Portsmouth Facility Operations Field Support project.

The work scope includes providing radiological protection coverage for the

receipt, storage, movement, and packaging of process gaseous cascade

equipment classified as "Manageable Handling/ Planned Expeditious Handling

Highly Enriched Uranium."

Responsible for providing radiological protection coverage for the preparation,

downsizing, packaging and movement of various excess materials for

disposition to off site treatment and disposal facilities.

Radiological coverage includes air sampling calculations and stay times for

workers protection.

Assisted in the completion of Waste Management's FY12 Performance Based

Incentives: 100% packaging of process gaseous cascade equipment and

intra-cell piping along with (7) shipments associated with five (5) cells in

accordance with the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) Waste

Acceptance Criteria (WAC) for 100% fee.

Over sighted in the recovery and packaging of two radiological sealed sources.

Using remote handling tools and special dosimeter to maintain exposure

ALARA in High Radiation Area. Packaged a Cesium 137 source into a Type 7A

55-gallon drum. Packaged a Radium 226 source (40 R/hr on contact) into a

Special Form Capsule (SFC), over packed into a Hopewell container, further

over-packed/ packaged into a separated Type 7A containers for future shipment

to an approved Treatment Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF).

Provided radiological coverage which includes air sampling, soil sampling and

contamination data analysis for the installation of direct oxidant mixing of

cells the Interim Remedial Measure project. This project was designed to

accelerate the remediation of Portsmouth groundwater plume by exposing

contaminated soils within the source area contamination greatly diminished

ongoing Trichloroethane(TCE) releases to the groundwater plume and

significantly reduced the long-term pump and treat liability for DOE.

variety of unusual radiological events and casualties such as contaminated

personnel and radioactive water leaking from a primary coolant system.

Maintain job proficiency through schedule on the job and classroom training;

attend demonstrations and radiological critiques; complete test on a random

basis; and re-qualifying by successfully completing retention test every thirty

months.
