Curriculum Vitae: Abhendra Kumar Singh, PhD
Expertise
Composite Materials (sandwich structures and monolithic laminates), Impact
and Indentation Studies, Fatigue Analysis, Fracture Mechanics, Solid
Mechanics, Elasticity.
Education
1. PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Syracuse
University, Syracuse, New York. Completed Spring 2013. GPA:
3.63
Dissertation Title:
“Damage characterization and analytical modeling of quasi-
statically indented graphite/epoxy-honeycomb core composite
sandwich structures.”
Research involved characterization of external and internal
damage of quasi-statically indented graphite/epoxy-aluminum
honeycomb core sandwich structures. An analytical model was
also developed with damage prediction capabilities. Research
was funded by NASA.
2. August 2007 – December 2008: MS in Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering, Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. GPA:
3.68
Research involved studying the effect of temperature, seawater
and impact on the strength, stiffness and life of glass fiber-PVC
foam core sandwich structures. Research funded by Office of
Naval Research (ONR).
3. July 1998- May 2002 – Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical
Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)- Roorkee,
Uttaranchal, India.
Recent Awards
