Resume:

Simon Heath ab07iw@r.postjobfree.com 314-***-****

I am a recent Master's graduate from Arizona State University, looking to make my break into the oil/gas industry. My goals for the next five years are to work hard, learn everything I can about professional geology, and hone my analytical skills. I am eager to travel and do field work, and I hope to get the chance to make a contribution to any company I work with.

Skills: Field Work: Field work is the reason I chose to specialize in geology. I have completed several mapping projects during my education, including teaching basic mapping and field geology to introductory students, as well as spending a summer field course in the Black Hills, SD. I continue to be an avid hiker and an officer in the Arizona State University Geology Club, helping organize and guide field trips for education.

Teamwork & Communication: I worked for two years in a heavily team-based environment at Greensoft Incorporated as a customer service technician. During this time I was responsible for monitoring and rapid response to client communication and technical emergencies. I also spent two years serving as a teaching assistant, giving lab lectures and assisting students in learning the fundamentals of geology.

Petrology & Mineralogy: I have done research in an experimental petrology lab, and worked as a teaching assistant in an upper-division petrology and mineralogy class. I am skilled with rock and mineral analysis in hand sample and thin section as well as other analytical techniques such as Raman and infrared emission spectroscopy, as well as x-ray diffraction.

Remote Sensing & GIS: For my Master's thesis I developed and refined techniques for deriving soil thermal properties on Mars by comparing orbital imagery to computational models, and developed an automated survey tool to perform this process anywhere on the planet's surface. Planetary GIS software (JMars) was heavily used in target selection and analysis. I am also familiar with modern techniques for spectral and morphological analysis with a variety of data sets.

Degrees & Certifications: Arizona State University – MS in Geological Sciences, May 2013 Washington University in St. Louis – BA in Earth and Planetary Sciences, August 2008

OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification, May 2013

Other Experience: Served as an officer (Webmaster) for two years in the Arizona State University Geoclub 2nd-degree black belt in Shorin-ryu karate

Work & Research Experience: Arizona State University Tempe, AZ Graduate Research 2010-2013 Worked on research projects in mineral physics with Dr. James Tyburczy, and in thermal remote sensing on Mars with Dr. Jim Bell and Dr. Phil Christensen. Additionally served as a teaching assistant in upper-division mineralogy and petrology classes.
