Responsible for the design, procurement, installation and start-up of a production plant overseas to produce industrial adhesives for foreign markets. Equipment installed and plant running in a total of 4-weeks in country with full training of staff on how to manufacture both 100% solids and solvent based adhesive systems. A total of three contracts procured and one completely delivered approximately 20% under budget.

Used my formulation skills to develop hot melt and liquid polyurethane adhesives for textile, automotive, and product assembly markets. Specific assemblies include custom laminates, entry and garage door manufacture, and profile wrapping. Led the organization in development of our ‘Second Generation’ urethane product line. Formulated products that account for over 90% of all dollars generated in this product line. Through close customer interaction, assessment of customer needs, and thorough scientific research, I was able to develop new products that increased sales by 30% in 1996.

Developmental Chemist - Research Triangle Park, NC Facility

(June 1994 - December 1995)

Trained all new employees on both theory and application of the polyurethane products. Technical group doubled in size from four to eight people, none of which had experience with 100% solids polyurethane adhesives. Used new raw material technologies to expand product line from 5 to 15 custom designed offerings for various product assembly markets.

Learned the physical testing required for the adhesive industry as well as how to formulate hot melt and aqueous pressure sensitive systems. Learned the operation of machines used to apply adhesives such as the roll coater, slot die applicator, web coater, and swirl spray gun.
