A leading corporation delivering medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology to improve and advance patient care worldwide.
Quality and Materials Engineer
Contractor through Kelly Engineering Resources. Executed functionality and durability tests on medication delivery products while documenting all aspects of each experiment: purpose, equipment and materials, procedure, data, results and conclusion. Communicated progress and results to study directors.
•Improved laboratory productivity. Assisted in implementing lean program, which led to a cleaner and safer work environment. Suggested methods to make test set-up easier by designating specific locations for equipment and responsible for personal section of laboratory to keep organized. Drew floor lay-outs of each lab for space indications.
•Developed reliability and leadership skills. Trained technicians on experiments. Gained trust and further responsibility with decreased supervision.
THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA POWER PLANT – IOWA CITY, IA 2007 to 2008
A well managed facility that converts coal, oat hulls, natural gas, limestone and portable water into energy and steam for the campus.
Member of a three-person team for the Program for Enhanced Design Experience senior design project. Reviewed current ventilation system for summer and winter months by collecting temperature and air flow data throughout the power plant and modeling the data on software. Recommended improvements to decrease temperature and increase air flow for better ventilation and summarized proposal in a report and presentation.
•Decreased temperatures by nine degrees and improved air circulation by 25%. Examined various methods to improve ventilation and tested proposed ideas through computer software. Analyzed results and compared findings with documented data to support claims.
•Reduced energy input and expenses. Designed improvements which reduced need for supply fans and exhaust fans, depending on the season. Decreased the in-house load.
IOWA INSTITUTE OF HYDRAULIC RESEARCH – IOWA CITY, IA 2007 to 2008
One of the nation’s oldest and most preeminent hydraulic research and teaching laboratories.
Research Assistant
Performed experiments in the IIHR Towing Tank involving experimental fluid dynamics and computational fluid dynamics for the US Navy. Participated in studies regarding ship rotation, ship resistance, turbulent boundary layers and wave formation. Handled troubleshooting with colleagues.
•Completed graduate-level projects. Volunteered extra hours and weekend time to ensure projects behind schedule were completed on time. Efforts recognized on several presentations and reports.
