ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns will assist Long Term Missing Case Managers with the following duties:
Work on case files of long-term missing and abducted children and child homicide cases
Support the Long-Term Missing Facebook group creating narratives
Assist in consolidating, analyzing and evaluating incoming reports, information and
leads from various resources and agencies
Communicate professionally with law-enforcement and family members on long-term missing and abducted children cases
Conduct computer database searches
Attend various on-site training seminars and presentations SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Prefer working towards a Master's Degree or other advanced degree related to Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology or related field
Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Demonstrated ability to analyze written materials
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
Although internships are unpaid positions, each intern will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and hands-on experience in the position of his/her choosing and will receive academic credit through an approved program at his/her college or as a volunteer. Interns will be reimbursed for parking or public transportation expenses.
HOURS:
The Special Programs, Long Term Missing Intern is required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. Interns will be excused to attend internship program functions.
