PLC Programmer - NO TRAVEL!

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support to production teams to reduce equipment downtime, eliminate tooling scrap, and enhance process performance using strong analytical problem-solving skills.

Responsible for control systems design, including specification, PLC programming, simulation and testing, and start-up assistance.

Drive process efficiency improvements through automation, controls upgrades, and layout enhancements.

Program automated equipment in alignment with production and operational requirements.

Design and generate quotes for electronic control systems that aid in manufacturing processes.

Evaluate and recommend vendors and control device suppliers based on received quotes.

Develop, implement, and maintain process control systems and automation architecture.

Lead and support plant improvement initiatives, focusing on equipment design, ergonomics, and process optimization.

Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and document all engineering activities accordingly.

Authority and Decision-Making

Alert the department manager of any condition that may impact product quality, employee safety, or customer satisfaction.

Take proactive steps to identify and correct nonconformities in product, process, or systems.

Responsible for vendor negotiations, project RFQs, and approvals related to equipment and tooling.

Sign off on facility layout plans when necessary.

Qualifications and Skills Required

2-year technical degree (minimum) with at least 1 year of related experience in controls engineering or automated assembly operations, or an equivalent combination.

Proven skills in PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Mitsubishi, etc.).

Proficiency in HMI / SCADA configuration (e.g., Wonderware, Rockwell, GE Cimplicity, Intellution).

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.

Skilled in panel design, wiring schematics, and AutoCAD.

Working knowledge of RSView, ControlNet, DeviceNet, bar code readers, conveyor systems, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.

Experience with field commissioning and industrial control systems (photo electrics, motor control centers).

Excellent leadership, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and enterprise tools like Outlook, Trans4M, and purchase requisition systems.

Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to internal quality control processes.

Training Requirements

Includes but not limited to:

Safety training, hazardous communication, ARC flash awareness, and internal systems such as Change Control Database and Engineering Change Management.

Corporate programs like Vision and Culture, Information Technology training, Travel Management, and Quality Mission Statement.
