Summary Description
Under the direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation and/or Recreation Superintendent, is responsible for performing a variety of duties using a high degree of independent judgement.
Essential Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plans, coordinates and supervises youth, adult and senior recreation programs
Instruct specific recreational interest areas included but not limited to youth, adult and/or senior program activities, sports and games, outdoor activities, music, fine arts and physical fitness/wellness
Evaluates programs and creates year long program and activity plans
Works cooperatively with other program and facility staff and with outside community groups and organizations
Assists with content preparation of departmental brochures, flyers, newsletters and other marketing materials
Develops and maintains program budgets
Trains, schedules and monitors part-time and seasonal staff/volunteers
Monitor and update website content as needed
Makes referrals to appropriate agencies
Required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
Maintains licenses and certifications as required, if any
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance

The essential functions of this position require employee to perform work in an office and athletic/special event environment, either indoors or out
Frequent walking, standing, sitting, talking, and hearing
Occasionally required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls
Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, and turn
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Ability to drive a motor vehicle to transport program equipment and supplies to and from other City offices/facilities and school and library facilities
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Education & Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Possession of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, physical education, sport management or related field, or a minimum of four years’ experience in a supervisory position in recreation or related field
Possession of a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license
CPR, AED and First Aid Certification preferredQUALIFICATIONS: (* indicates developed after employment).
