The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Diagnostic Technician to join RGM Maintenance’s Rockhampton team. This position is suited to experienced diesel mechanics with advanced fault-finding skills and hands-on experience working with Daimler commercial vehicles. The role is classified under ANZSCO 321212 – Diesel Motor Mechanic, making it suitable for both local and visa-sponsored applicants.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Identifying and diagnosing mechanical and electronic faults in heavy diesel vehicles

Conducting detailed inspections, repairs, and system testing across engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension

Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

Utilising advanced diagnostic tools and interpreting fault codes accurately

Reassembling components and conducting performance testing post-repair

Completing job cards, service reports, and adhering to workshop compliance requirements

Supporting field service and breakdown response work as needed

Ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with all WHS and regulatory standards

Required Skills and Experience

Trade qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent

Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in diesel mechanical work

Demonstrated expertise with Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, or Freightliner trucks is essential

Strong diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting skills

Competent with computerised diagnostic equipment and OEM software

HR or MR driver’s licence preferred

Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and uphold safety and quality standards

Reliable, motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality service
