We’re looking for a motivated individual to join our team as an Operator in Training for a water/wastewater treatment facility. This is a great opportunity to begin a long-term career in the utilities industry, working toward certification while gaining hands-on experience in water and wastewater operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED

Valid driver’s license

Preferred Skills:

Understanding of mechanical systems (pumps, valves, engines)

Familiarity with safety protocols, maintenance tools, and basic lab procedures

Basic knowledge of biological and chemical principles in water treatment

Responsibilities

Learn and assist in operating water/wastewater treatment systems

Operate pumps, valves, gates, and generators—manually or via remote control

Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to track system performance

Perform routine maintenance and basic custodial duties

Record data, complete logs, and collect water samples for lab testing

Report equipment issues or abnormalities to supervisors

Follow safety procedures and work both independently and in a team

Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role includes both indoor and outdoor work. Candidates must be able to:

Work in loud, wet, or confined spaces with moving machinery and chemicals

Wear safety gear as required (PPE provided)

Lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, push a mower, and stand or move for long periods

Perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting
