My client is a dynamic and growing organization managing a large space of commercial property, with a significant portion of owned assets. They are a close-knit team committed to excellence and are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance to join their organization.

My client is looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to lead all finance-related matters and manage their dedicated accounting team. This is a critical role that will work closely with the President and play a significant part in the continued success of their exciting business. They are looking to elevate the position of Director of Finance to reflect the strategic importance and impact this individual will have.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all finance-related matters and lead the accounting team.

Prepare, analyze, and present monthly and annual financial statements and reporting packages to owners and external stakeholders.

Develop cash flow projections for individual corporate entities and the corporate group.

Direct the annual preparation of operating budgets, capital budgets, and cash flow statements.

Track actual financial results against budget, highlighting variances to property managers, owners, and external stakeholders.

Mentor and develop the accounting team, participating in hiring and termination decisions as needed. Ensure accuracy of work and compliance with all government remittances and deadlines.

Serve as the primary finance liaison for property managers on all finance and property management matters.

Lead weekly management meetings.

Review and approve invoices and purchase orders.

Participate in lease and contract negotiations, and tendering processes.

Contribute to strategic discussions with President and external stakeholders.

Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis

Communicate and negotiate with bankers, mortgage lenders, insurers, and other external parties.

Prepare corporate year-end working paper files for external accountants.

Develop and implement internal financial controls and procedures.

Requirements:

CPA designation with 5+ years of experience working in industry and/or public accounting.

Must have experience dealing with owner-managed companies (either via public accounting or hands-on industry experience)

Ideally started career in public accounting

Experience with external reporting is ideal

Experience managing a finance team

Strong oral & written communicator #ACC1
