Objective:

Responsible for part of the jewelry production process after jewelry is casted. The Bench Jeweler smooths the rough surfaces and completes jewelry assembly using various hand tools before the jewelry is sent to the Polishing station.

Essential Functions:

Assemble jewelry articles such as rings, charms, bracelets, necklaces, and pendants.

Grind smooth surfaces using tools such as lathes, drills, grinders and emery sticks.

Apply solder and position parts in specified relationship to each other using hand tools.

Apply heat by torch or soldering oven, when necessary.

Smooth soldered joints and rough spots using hand file and emery paper.

Select tools, materials, and technique based on product specifications.

Notify management of production delays when timelines will not be met.

Wear required Personal Protective Equipment and follow all safety procedures.

Regular attendance and compliance with the Company's handbook policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Competency:

Knowledge of how to size, set and solder using fine precision tools.

Knowledge of commonly used practices and procedures in utilization of small hand tools in a manufacturing/production environment related to jewelry.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent fine motor skills.

Ability to read small print and focus on small pieces for long periods of time.

Physical Demands:

Use of fine motor skills for long periods of time, such as pinching and grasping.

Continuous use of arms, wrists and hands.

Use of eyes for visualizing small pieces and prints.

Work Environment:

Work inside the secure are of the building in a manufacturing environment. This position is sitting at a seat and has a work area with personal tools and space to complete job tasks.

Individuals working in the secure area are required to follow the companies Secure Area Dress Code and Security policies and procedures. All clothing must be free from metal and no metal worn into the secure area of the building. Any metal present inside or outside the body due to a medical condition must be visually inspected or reasonable accommodations may be made.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full-time, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Overtime and Saturday hours may be required during peak times of the year.

Travel: No travel required.

Required Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

One or more years of experience working with and adjusting precious metals.
