The Downs at Albuquerque is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. This role performs accounts receivable processes as well as limited accounts payable activities, data collection to analyze revenues and expenses while recording journal entries, balance sheet account and bank reconciliations, gross receipts tax return, and selected auditing functions.
The Downs at Albuquerque is located in the heart of Albuquerque, just minutes away from Uptown and Nob Hill. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in preparation financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and internal departments.
Maintains and balances general ledger system by obtaining, verifying and inputting data,
Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information.
Prepares general ledger entries and maintains records and files.
Monthly reconciliation of internal and external reporting data for various balance sheet and bank accounts, including data from subsidiary ledgers.
Prepares payments by assigning account numbers, requesting disbursements and reconciling vendor accounts.
Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting financial information.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Supports accounting and company mission by completing ad hoc assignments as needed.
Provide support for external and compliance audits
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Business or Accounting from four-year College or University, and five years related experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Proven GL experience with experience in the Racino or Hospitality Industry preferred
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft office including word and excel and Accounting Software. Experience with Peachtree accounting software is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP and application of accounting procedures.
Accuracy and attention to detail with an aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
