Job Description
We are currently hiring a Direct Support Professional in Edgefield, SC
This position will be on second shift, 3:45pm-11:45pm various days and 7:45am-7:45pm every other weekend.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid SC Drivers License
Ability to write and have good communication skills
Some cooking and cleaning skills
Previous experience preferred, but not required
Position summary and purpose:
The direct support professional will implement training for individuals with disabilities and special needs as specified in each person's individual program plan. The DSP will provide counseling with individuals receiving services on behavior problems and goal setting, assist individuals in receiving services in meeting all medical and personal appointments, and is accountable for all relevant documentation.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Transports individuals to and from work, appointments, shopping, trips, camps,
recreational activities, etc.
· Trains individuals in independent living skills, social skills, proper work skills, and other areas as specified in each person's IPP. Documents progress on an ongoing basis (monthly)
· Acts as an advocate for individuals receiving services.
· Participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings as needed.
· Assists in carrying out recreational outings for individuals.
· Responsible for adhering to DDSN policies and procedures and Burton Center Multi-
County Board for Disabilities and Special Needs Policy and Procedure.
· Attends meetings and inservice training classes as assigned.
· Assists individuals in their correspondence, letter writing, personal phone calls,
cleaning of apartments, cooking, etc.
· Insures that adequate food is available at home as needed for menus.
· Responsible for monitoring individuals in meal preparation when at home. Responsible
for cleaning and training the individuals to clean.
· Assures individuals are appropriately dressed at all times, completes monthly
documentation of individuals personal property and makes revisions when they occur.
· Performs any other duties as required by SLP II Coordinator or Operations Manager.
