About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Controller to support our Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is eager to drive financial excellence within our organization. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial management, ensuring compliance, and implementing strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and job cost reports.

Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.

Present financial reports to senior management, offering strategic insights and recommendations.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.

Develop and maintain a strong internal control system to safeguard company assets.

Oversee tax compliance, labor law adherence, and industry-specific financial regulations.

Manage external audits and ensure accurate preparation of audit documentation.

Job Cost Accounting & Budgeting

Accurately track and report project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, and equipment.

Work closely with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, and profitability.

Oversee billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocation for construction projects.

Provide detailed job cost reports to management, identifying opportunities for cost control.

Cash Flow & Financial Operations

Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other financial operations.

Implement strategies for effective working capital management.

Leadership & Team Development

Supervise and mentor the accounting and finance team, fostering professional growth.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing development opportunities.

Assist in recruiting, training, and retaining top financial talent.

Strategic Planning & System Optimization

Collaborate with the CFO, CEO, and executive team on long-term financial strategies.

Identify and manage financial risks.

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and technology.

Streamline processes through automation and system integration.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).

Experience: 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (preferably in the construction industry).

Expertise in construction accounting, job costing, and financial reporting.

Proficiency in accounting software & Microsoft Excel (advanced financial modeling and analysis skills).

Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
