About the program:
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
The Systems Engineering Lead (SEIT Lead) works within the Systems Engineering Integrated Team (SEIT) on the AIR6500 T2B program. This role is responsible for the SEIT General team and includes the scope of activities in Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, Software Architecture, Hardware Architecture, Configuration Management and Operational Analysis.
In this role, you will primarily:
Lead the SEIT General Team through development of the system functional, non-functional, and interface requirements from Air Battle Management concepts, risk reduction exercises and Commonwealth needs
Lead the SEIT General Team through development of the System of Systems architecture
Be the owner of Systems Engineering Process, Plans, and Tools for the AIR6500 program
Manage and co-ordinate systems engineering activities with adjacent Engineering disciplines, SME’s and IPT’s including System Design, Product Designs, Verification & Validation, Support System, and Specialty Engineering
Lead and drive Major System Reviews and internal reviews relevant to AIR6500
Shaping and reporting metrics for SEIT General Team
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)
Advanced knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle and methodologies; and how that translates into the Agile construct
Significant industry experience in technical leadership and development of engineering acquisition solutions
Substantial experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and present concise reports, briefings and updates
Familiarity with Air / Electromagnetic Battle Management will be advantageous
Understanding of Model Based Systems Development (MBSD) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles is desirable but not essential
An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information
Special Requirements:
