Tri-County Technical College invites applicants to the role of Biology Lecturer. Reporting to the Science Department Head, the Biology Lecturer will be responsible for teaching Biology lecture and lab courses using systematically planned and delivered instruction for the program, maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate level of achievement, and assign grades for the program.

Lecturers must teach 18 credit hours or 6 lecture courses each academic term (fall and spring term). For lab/clinical-based programs, lecturers must teach 24 contact hours or 3 lab/clinical experiences that total at least 24 contact hours but not more than 28 contact hours each academic term. Teaching assignments may include both day and evening classes as well as classes on multiple campuses or high school and career center campuses.

Lecturers will serve as intake advisors during peak periods and during the Summer intake peak period, approximately 6-8 weeks (late June – early August) at no more than 20 hours per week. Intake advising will include admissions, career, and academic counseling for prospective students as well as developmental advising for continuing students. Depending on summer enrollment, Lecturers may teach assigned courses and intake advisor hours may be reduced.

Lecturers will be eligible for health insurance under the ACA and PEBA guidelines. Lecturers will be eligible for retirement benefits, as are all temporary employees. Lecturers are not eligible for paid holidays or leave; they are paid only for hours worked under SC State law.

The Biology Lecturer role is a part-time employment role that is eligible for health insurance benefits due to the amount of coursework they are required to teach. Successful candidates will be required to teach face-to-face instruction at one of our four community campuses (Anderson, Easley, Pendleton, or Oconee). Online instruction is not available.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Master's degree in biology or closely related field with 18 graduate hours in biology.
