Under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian(s) & Nutrition Services Specialist, the Dietary Aide assists with daily food and nutrition services for PACE program participants.
Schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm Compensation: Compensation: $21.58 - $22.65 an hour Duties and Responsibilities * Assists with day-to-day operations of dietary/meal services.
* Helps to facilitate food service and is responsible for serving meals, snacks, and beverages using portion control and applicable sanitation practices.
* Responsible for delivering meals to PACE participants and setting up meal trays in accordance with dietary orders and/or tray cards.
* Ensures PACE participants are served proper diet and following food preferences in a timely manner.
* Keeps the kitchen, dietary equipment, and dining room clean and sanitary at all times, including work areas and floors.
* Cleans utensils, dishes, and pots and pans by operating the dishwasher or proper handwashing processes.
Ensures dishwasher is working properly and at the appropriate temperature.
Records temperature of dishwasher.
Properly stores pots, dishes, and utensils.
* Assists in completing Daily Kitchen/Dietary Logs and test trays in the kitchen.
* Ensures proper storage (FIFO method), rotation, preparation, and labeling of food in accordance with State and local guidelines and CV PACE policy.
Discards outdated food.
* Maintains fully stocked kitchen inventory ordering as needed.
* Ensures that the menu, as set forth by the Registered Dietitian is being executed as documented and to the highest quality standards.
* Partners with staff to ensure equipment is working properly and at the appropriate temperature.
Records temperature of equipment throughout shift as needed.
Reports faulty equipment immediately.
* Maintains a safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
* Assists in storing incoming food and supplies as assigned.
* Utilizes and enforces protective gear in all appropriate functions.
* Assist in conducting PACE participant food satisfaction surveys quarterly.
* Attends and participates in training, in-services, and staff meetings as needed.
* Works under supervision of the Registered Dietitian(s) & Nutrition Services Specialist.
* Observe each participant for any change in physical, mental, emotional and social functioning and shall report such changes to the licensed nurse.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands * Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting or pushing greater than 30 pounds, should be done with assistance as appropriate.
* Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
* Must have vision with or without lenses that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
* Must have high manual dexterity.
* Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
Work Environment * Exposure to biohazards, including infectious material and waste and any other conditions common in a health care environment.
* The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, but may at times be noisy and crowded.
Education/Experience Requirements Minimum Qualifications * Valid California Driver's License, acceptable driving record and vehicle insurance.
* Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication.
* General knowledge and understanding of nutrition.
* Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
* Bilingual English / Spanish, preferred.
Education/Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent.
* ServSafe certification as required by the State, or attainment within first 30 of employment.
* Current BLS CPR Card certified by American Heart Association.
