This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by identifying and anticipating concerns and hazards; developing and enforcing systems policies and procedures; by conducting studies and investigations; devising safe procedures and researching and advising on various types of safety equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

Identifies and anticipates health and safety concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational and occupational conditions; investigating violations, recommending preventive programs; conducting emergency evacuation drills, updating policy as changes occur at each facility; working with security on all aspects of controlling workplace violence; assuring compliance local, state and federal safety regulations.

Guides and promotes safe work performance by being a role model for safety; developing safety systems, policies and procedures; developing safety campaigns, communications and recognition; training managers and employees on safety related issues.

Administer Safety programs for all Viking Range entities by working with all entities to provide necessary training with inside &/or outside trainers.

Assure responsible care for all injured employees by training all first responders in all aspects of First Aid and CPR and continuing refresher classes; updating and monitoring OSHA logs, first aid logs and injury report forms; monitoring drug testing for accidents involving property damage.

Maintains Safety training programs by developing training programs and re-training all employees in areas of new hire safety orientation, forklift training, Haz Com, Respiratory Protection Program, PPE, Hearing Conservation, Lockout/Tagout and other safety training as needed.

Enforcing Safety Policies by conducting inspections, reporting statistics, updating safety policies as needed; counseling employees, supervisors and managers on the importance of working safely while following the proper procedures.

Administering inspections and audits by scheduling regular inspections and audits for each facility, working with supervisors, managers and engineers to correct problems noted during the inspection process and to ensure corrections are completed by the necessary date.

Assist Director of Facilities with various security issues such as; third party security contractor guidance as needed, assist security officers with employee badge creation as needed, occasional review of security camera footage, and other miscellaneous items when applicable.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred

5+ years of previous Health and Safety experience required

Deep understanding of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ANSI standards

Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple complex programs/projects, and rapidly adapt/respond to changes in environment and priorities

Advanced organizational, problem solving, and analysis skills

Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, initiative, and commitment to work assignments

Strong attention to detail

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal & training skills

Proficient with all MS Office and applicable software packages

Responsible, dependable, detail oriented and professional

First Aid and CPR certification required, instructor or trainer; preferred
