Position Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and continuously improving corporate safety and health programs and objectives across all ODW locations, including multiple nationwide distribution centers and the corporate office. This position also supports the broader compliance initiatives relating to quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Serve as a Safety SME -- As a safety subject matter expert, to promote safety as a cultural business value rather than a business priority, through training, coaching, and communication of ODW safety practices, procedures, expectations, and industry best practices.

2. Develop and Maintain Safety Programs -- research, review, update, and deliver safety procedures and policies that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., Haz Comm, Risk Assessments, audits, training, etc.). Assist in developing and delivering safety training/onboarding, promoting a 'safety first' culture.

3. Lead Proactive Safety Culture - by identifying exposures/hazards in fulfillment or transport. Recommend preventative measures and implement engineered or administrative controls with the use of strong communication skills. Support our powered industrial truck (PIT) platforms (iWarehouse and Infolink), near-miss reporting, and Behavior-Based Safety Observations (BBSOs).

4. Provide Strong Leadership -- provides motivational communication to Safety team members, ODW leadership, and associates, continuing to exceed expectations as it pertains to facilitating a compliant, safe, and healthful work environment. Leads a high-functioning safety team, providing feedback and coaching, to proactively support a growing network of distribution centers.

5. Promote Safety Awareness - develop and deliver content through company memoranda, newsletters, trainings, Safety Team meetings, Safety Calls, goal attainment, and individual development.

6. Ensure Regulatory Compliance - understand, monitor, and proactively manage exposures related to OSHA (federal/state), EPA, NFPA, NIOSH, ESG, and ANSI regulations. Track regulatory changes and communicate adjustments as they occur.

7. Support Incident Management & Workers Compensation -- maintain incident logs, understand and assist in completing OSHA logs (300, 300A, 301), participate in injury/incident investigations to determine compliant dispositions. Work with the Director of Safety & Security to create corrective and preventative actions. Support Human Resources, Risk, and Operations leadership in implementing said actions.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's or Associate's Degree (Preferred), or 2-4 years of safety leadership experience.

Certifications will be given consideration - OSHA-10, OSHA-30, OSHA-511, OHSA-501, STS, ASP, CSP, etc.

Safety management experience in logistics, manufacturing, or a warehouse setting.

Warehouse and material handling equipment (MHE) experience (e.g., stand-up/sit-down forklift, order picker, reach truck, etc.)

Experience with the Raymond iWarehouse and/or Crown lnfolink platforms is a plus.

Capabilities

Familiarity with NFPA (30 A&B), OSHA 1910, ANSI, and NIOSH (preferred).

Hazardous material (flammable liquids and aerosols) experience.

Excellent organizational, communication, and motivational skills.

Strong relationship-building skills and recognizing that having great people is a competitive advantage.

Ability to analyze data, assess risk, and identify root causes.

High attention to detail and strong observational skills.

Sound decision-making based on analysis, judgment, and experience.

Demonstrated work ethic, personal drive, and the ability to perform under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to manage team members and situations remotely.

Innovative thinker with the ability to challenge the status quo for better results.

Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid driver's license.

Physical and Mental Requirements

While performing this role, the associate must be able to:

Flexibility to respond as needed at any time, day or night.

Walk or stand for extended periods of time in ambient warehouse conditions.

Occasionally work at heights and ascend/descend ladders.
