About this position
The Quality Engineer will perform root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities; maintain company quality system; perform and monitor quality audits; communicate with suppliers and customers on quality concerns and initiatives; write and revise quality specifications; and prepare for and host customer and third-party quality auditors.
Responsibilities
Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
Provides Quality System technical expertise and/or support to business, suppliers, and other functional teams.
Utilize preventative quality techniques to improve product quality, reduce in-line defects, and reduce scrap.
Initiates and follows up on CAPA and NC of product or processes.
Initiates and executes continuous improvement activities for established processes and supports development of new processes, including use of lean and six sigma tools and problem-solving tools (8D, 5-whys, cause and effect, etc.)
Supports and facilitates APQP activities to improve new product development and production and to meet customer requirements.
Develop internal Quality Plans to account for 100% of all design characteristics.
Develop and analyze statistical data and specifications to indicate present product and process standards and establish proposed quality reliability expectancy of finished product.
Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
Attend design reviews as a quality representative to evaluate compliance, proper inspection points, etc. as required.
Performs production and quality systems audits.
Review customer orders for quality flow-down requirements and compliance to flow-down requirements in support of Quality Assurance.
Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs.
Establish and maintain good customer rapport, while driving solutions to meet business needs.
Develop and maintain a strong spirit of partnership.
Work with suppliers to improve overall quality of supplier chain.
Minimum Qualifications
BS degree in an engineering-related discipline is required.
5+ years' experience as a Quality Engineer
Strong knowledge of quality tools used in the industry
Analytical and quantitative approach to problem solving
Familiar with quality assurance principles, inspection techniques, testing procedures, and statistical analysis.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
