Flueid Software, based in Santa Barbara CA and Austin TX, is seeking a meticulous and driven Staff Accountant to play a pivotal role in maintaining our financial health and supporting our exciting growth trajectory.
About the Role:
As a Staff Accountant, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You'll be responsible for a wide range of general accounting tasks, from meticulous general ledger maintenance to the preparation of insightful financial reports. This is a critical position that directly impacts on our organizational well-being and offers opportunities for growth as we scale. We're looking for someone who brings a strong foundation in accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
What You'll Do:
· Maintain the General Ledger: Accurately process transactions, prepare journal entries, and ensure the integrity of all accounting data.
· Financial Reporting: Compile and analyze account information to prepare and record entries for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses, ultimately generating key financial statements (balance sheet, profit and loss, etc.).
· Account Reconciliation: Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate allocation and posting of transactions.
· Audit Support: Prepare schedules and analyses for general ledger accounts to facilitate smooth and efficient external audits.
· Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the full AP cycle, including reviewing and inputting invoices, managing the approval process, and ensuring timely and accurate payments to the correct accounts.
· Tax Compliance: Prepare and/or review required tax forms for federal, state, and local authorities, ensuring adherence to legal requirements.
· Financial Forecasting: Integrate monthly financial data into our financial forecast model to support strategic decision-making.
· Communication & Administration: Professionally handle administrative emails and maintain organized financial records through database backups.
· Future Growth: Longer-term, take ownership of payroll processing (currently managed by HR).
· Other duties and tasks, as assigned by manager.
What You'll Bring:
Required
· Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience OR a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Initiative
· Deep understanding of general financial accounting principles (GAAP).
· High proficiency in QuickBooks.
· Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
· Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
· Outstanding organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong sense of follow-through.
· Demonstrated discretion and a commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and time-management skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with various stakeholders.
Preferred
· Experience with Paylocity or other financial software.
· Prior experience in a fast-paced, venture-backed startup environment.
· Proven experience in financial reporting.
