Russell Tobin has an immediate need for a Project Engineer (working with Automotive Conveyors)! This Project Engineer will be working for our client who is an Industrial Solutions Provider in Southfield, MI area.

This is a direct hire/permanent role with a salary in the $90k-$110k range (plus bonuses)

Project Engineer Responsibilities:

Oversee engineering and technical aspects of assigned projects to ensure accuracy and quality in collaboration with project manager and superintendent.

Manage conveyor engineering design, layout, and detailing as per customer scope of work and Sylvan clarifications.

Support structural calculations, including loadings and member sizing.

Coordinate with Professional Engineer for state-certified structural and civil drawings.

Perform engineering calculations for drives, shafts, cylinders, and bearings.

Provide and create ABM’s, Work Orders, and answer inquiries from purchasing and shop regarding orders.

Assist in drawing development and provide technical support to project engineers.

Resolve technical issues promptly and efficiently.

Check drawings before sending to shop or sub-fabrication source.

Create AutoCAD conveyor layouts to meet customer requirements.

Review and track project requirements pre/post award.

Collaborate with project manager on-site and attend jobsite meetings as needed.

Assist in quoting additional work requirements.

Maintain updated task lists for projects and engineers.

Provide chain pulls and FMEA/FEA documentation as per customer requirements.

Stay updated on latest specifications and revisions from customer.

Train engineers with less experience.

Monitor engineering sub-contractor selected for project.

Provide start-up assistance to project manager and superintendent.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 5+ years of automotive conveyor experience, or non-degreed with 5+ years’ experience in automotive conveyor work.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.

Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.

Identify scope of work changes and create detailed change order requests.
