Job Title: Project Engineer - Commercial Construction Job Description This role offers the opportunity to build a long-term career in commercial construction by supporting project teams from preconstruction through closeout.

You will gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects, work closely with project managers and field leadership, and contribute to the successful delivery of work in active, complex environments, including existing correctional facilities.

Responsibilities * Support project teams throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from preconstruction planning through final closeout.

* Assist with preparing, issuing, and tracking Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and other project documentation.

* Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements to help ensure accurate understanding and execution in the field.

* Help develop, update, and track project schedules to monitor progress and identify potential delays or impacts.

* Monitor project progress, materials, and quality to support adherence to plans, specifications, and performance standards.

* Coordinate daily with superintendents, subcontractors, and project team members to facilitate communication and resolve issues.

* Assist with compiling and managing project closeout documentation and processes, including warranties, as-builts, and turnover packages.

* Support jobsite safety efforts by helping promote and maintain compliance with safety policies and procedures.

* Collaborate with project management to support change order preparation, tracking, and documentation as needed.

* Maintain organized project records and ensure timely distribution of documents to all relevant stakeholders.

Essential Skills * Foundational experience or education in construction management, project management, or project coordination within commercial construction.

* Ability to support and coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project engineering activities.

* Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

* Proficiency with Procore for project management, documentation, and collaboration.

* Proficiency with Bluebeam for reviewing, marking up, and managing construction documents.

* Effective communication skills to coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, and project teams.

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to track schedules, materials, and project documentation.

* Attention to detail and commitment to supporting quality control and jobsite safety efforts.

* Comfort working on projects located in existing correctional facilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

* Interest in building a long-term career in commercial construction.

* Ability to work collaboratively with project managers and field leadership and to learn from mentorship.

* Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues in drawings, schedules, or field conditions and escalate appropriately.

* Basic understanding of construction sequencing, materials, and methods.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Work Environment You will work in a dynamic commercial construction environment that includes both office and active jobsite settings.

Projects include work within existing correctional facilities, where you must remain comfortable operating in secure, highly regulated spaces and following all site-specific protocols.

You will use modern construction technologies such as Procore and Bluebeam on a daily basis to manage documents, RFIs, submittals, and schedules.

The role involves close collaboration with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams, providing strong mentorship and exposure to a variety of project types.

Work hours generally align with standard construction schedules and may require occasional flexibility to support project milestones, site needs, and coordination meetings.

Appropriate professional and safety attire, including required personal protective equipment on jobsites, is expected at all times.

Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

Full medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Ability to contribute to a 401k.

Constant work since it is primarily all public work.

Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Columbus,OH.
