Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

Capital Power Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated O&M Performance Specialist, Renewable Assets to join our team in Edmonton. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to analyze and monitor the performance of our world-class Renewables fleet. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining analytical tools to solve complex problems and optimize the operation of our fleet.

You will contribute to our team by:

Developing, implementing, maintaining, and interpreting advanced and varied Renewables equipment models to optimize production and availability.

Contributing to cross-functional initiatives to meet and exceed Renewables fleet performance targets.

Managing projects to optimize the Capital Power Renewables fleet.

Acting as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the performance management of Renewable Assets and educating others on the use of analytical tools to manage assets.

Providing recommendations for the operation and maintenance of Renewable assets, with decisions impacting the operational and financial performance of the fleet.

Collecting, reviewing, and interpreting feedback from diverse groups regarding the effectiveness of the analytical tools used to manage the Renewables fleet.

Resolving highly complex problems related to the operation of Renewable assets using a data-driven approach.

Providing recommendations for new and improved analytical tools and processes for the Renewable fleet.

Contributing to organizational change within the Technical Data Operations Center group.

Developing and interpreting analytical models with limited external review.

Regularly engaging with appropriate SMEs; including Operations, HSE, and Engineering to respond to production risks.

Building effective working relationships with diverse senior-level staff in other departments, including IS, Operations, HSE, and Engineering.

Collaborating with external parties including other Operators, OEMs, Industry Knowledge Authorities, and analytical tool vendors.

Mentoring peers and encouraging their development in the use and analysis of data.

What you will bring to the role:

Education:

Completed post-secondary Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or Degree (or a related field) or completed Renewable Energy Technologist Diploma.

Education equivalency may be considered with significant relevant experience.

Experience & Technical Skills:

5 to 9 years’ experience in the renewables industry.

Proficient in the use of applications such as HMIs, Aveva Pi, Tableau, Power BI and computer programming languages such as Python, R, VBA, SQL or MatLab.

Proven analytical skills as it relates to assessing renewable asset operational performance.

Ability to communicate technical information and complex issues in a clear and concise manner to peers, business representatives, and external counterparts.

Ability to manage projects and work effectively in a cross-functional team.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of renewable assets is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with minimal travel to Capital Power facilities or other offices.

Additional Details:

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug & alcohol test is required.
