Electrical Project Engineer

Our client, an innovative engineering firm specializing in construction and consulting services and expanding into the IPP market, seeks an Electrical Project Engineer.

Work Activities and Responsibilities:

Plan, execute, and oversee the construction of 1MW+ solar farms, managing power distribution and home connections while adhering to timelines, quality standards, and budgets.

Manage the construction of electrical power transmission and distribution projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with timelines, quality standards, and budgets.

Supervise the installation of electrical equipment and systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications.

Design, test, and implement electrical transmission lines and distribution systems.

Collaborate with diverse teams to align projects with goals and industry regulations.

Manage engineering design processes, conducting site assessments and technical evaluations for optimal solutions.

Assist in creating technical drawings using AutoCAD for substation and line construction.

Review specifications and recommend changes to achieve power system design objectives.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to improve project performance.

Develop design specifications and functional requirements for power systems or components.

Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement strategies for successful delivery.

Offer technical support to installation teams during construction and testing.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Create checklists for reviewing completed installation projects.

Lead the tender process, providing technical guidance on equipment selection.

Maintain detailed reports of electrical projects.

Skills and Requirements:

Bachelors degree in electrical engineering.

Additional certifications or a master's degree in electrical power generation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy would be advantageous.

7 to 10+ years of proven experience in project management and engineering within the power transmission and distribution sector; solar project experience is beneficial.

Strong comprehension of power transmission and distribution infrastructure systems.

Experience in tendering and managing turnkey electrical transmission and distribution projects.

Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project and CAD software such as AutoCAD is beneficial.

Ability to lead and manage a team of junior engineers.

Excellent communication skills, collaboration abilities, and proactive problem-solving approach.

Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask, prioritize, work independently and as part of a team, and perform under pressure.

Fluent in spoken and written English; knowledge of French is advantageous.

Excellent time management, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.

Strong computer literacy.

Willingness to travel internationally.
