The Opportunity

AFV / AFVP is seeking a Controller who enjoys working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment. This position is a key role and provides direct exposure to the C-level team as it reports and works side-by-side with the CFO and executive team. The role requires experience working in an operationally-focused environment with a keen understanding of technical accounting and GAAP principles, with a requirement of at least 3 years public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 or next tier accounting firm. AFV / AFVP is looking for an individual in the top of their field who has demonstrated competency working in complex, multi-company environments, has the ability to execute a broad scope of tasks, from developing startup processes, procedures and technical research to deliver high quality, GAAP compliant financial statements and reports to our CEO/Principal. Responsibilities

Responsible and management of all accounting functions for AFV, AFV Partners and APG (70+ entities and 4-5 team members)

Keen focus on driving and optimizing the return on investments across the enterprise on an after-tax basis

Partner with FP&A team to provide senior leadership with quality monthly, quarterly, and annual reports across the enterprise, including regular, timely updates on duties and projects.

Responsible for the preparation of and reporting for multiple entity financial statements and reports, in accordance with GAAP or other reporting standard (international audit)

Responsible for annual audits by external auditors, including preparation of the financial statements, footnotes, supporting schedules, PBC’s, equity rollforwards, waterfalls and other support required by auditors to complete the audits timely, accurately and at the highest standards

Partner effectively with other finance team members and non-accounting functions to improve controls and make process enhancements

Adherence to internal controls to ensure company assets are protected and internal controls are in place to avoid process failures, audit discrepancies, and losses

Implement and maintain financial reporting procedures to comply with internal and external reporting deadlines as well as external audit deadlines

Oversight of month-end close, reconciliations, account analyses, variance analyses and other duties required to issue monthly financial and management reports to our CEO and outside parties in a timely manner

Support for debt and related compliance reporting

Support operations with business performance analysis, cost analysis and control and recommendations for improvements

Develop, mentor and train accounting team

Research, develop and provide recommendations for technical accounting issues

Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes

Optimize the accounting team functions across our diverse business units

Special ad hoc projects for the CEO and CFO

Desired Characteristics

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

CPA preferred

10-15 years’ experience required, including 3-4 years with a Big 4 firm or next tier firm

Proficient and solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, including the ability to research and provide both oral and written explanations and summaries of technical accounting principles, treatment and recommendations to the C-level Accounting Executives

Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

Strong leader, with both IQ and EQ skills, leading with integrity and by example

Strong work ethic, and ability to work independently with limited management supervision

Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized

Ability to think creatively, highly-driven, problem solver and self-motivated

Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity

Experience with software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies including working knowledge of ASC 606

Fast paced, deadline driven with timely completion of deliverables
