Why This is an Exciting Role:

As a Software Engineer 2 at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics you will be responsible for:

Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements

Debug existing software and correct defects

Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards

Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features

Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments

Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories

Write or review software and system documentation

Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries

Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards

Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components

Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas

Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance

Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design

Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products

Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards

Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces

Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met

Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects

Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams

Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering

Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

Required Education and Years of Experience:

Active TS/SCI with polygraph

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or

chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work

experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Analyzing and translating user requirements into software requirements

A combination of both new software development and capabilities enhancement

Provide specific input to the software components of systems design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and requirements analysis and synthesis from systems level to individual software components.

Developing simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories

Software integration (new and existing systems)

Troubleshooting, debugging and defects correction

Creation and editing of software systems documentation

Assisting with development and execution of test procedures for software components

Experience developing applications interfacing with REST-based APIs/services in Apache Tomcat/Java or NodeJS

Or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (19 years with no qualifying degree)

Experience with JavaScript, React, and Angular frameworks

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with writing Linux based scripts to facilitate application integration using a one or more appropriate server-side languages (i.e. Shell, Python, etc.)

Modify the repository schema of an existing application to support new data items, develop data mining and data ingest processes for new data, and support integration with middle-tier and back-end APIs

Administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the application

Experience working in an Agile software development environment

Experience managing software code using Git & MAVEN

Experience using Jira and Confluence

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
