Job Summary: The Apprentice Shop Service Technician will assist the Shop Service Supervisor through on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values

2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources

3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:

Assists in performing maintenance and repair of rental fleet

Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components

Examines and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure the proper functioning

Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts

Attends required classroom instructions by Pro-Tech and HDSI classes

Maintains safety training and procedures

Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership

Requires regular and punctual employee attendance

Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications

Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

Ability to read, write, and interpret information

Ability to follow directions and guidelines

Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership

Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment

Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing

Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Travel:

Very limited travel and overnight stays are expected for this position

Physical Requirements:

Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment

Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds

Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbing up and down ladders

Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment

Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment:

Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity

Uses of hand and power tools to complete tasks

Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole-body vibration

Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment

May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
