A Freight Forwarding Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the logistics and transportation process. Their role is crucial in ensuring the efficient movement of goods from one location to another. Here is a job description for a Freight Forwarding Coordinator:

Responsibilities:

Customer Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for clients and shippers, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Documentation Management: Prepare and manage shipping and customs documents, including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

Cargo Booking: Coordinate the booking of cargo space with carriers, negotiate rates, and select the most suitable transportation options based on client requirements.

Shipment Tracking: Monitor the progress of shipments, track their status, and provide real-time updates to clients. Address any delays or issues as they arise.

Customs Clearance: Facilitate customs clearance procedures, including document preparation, duty and tax payments, and compliance with import/export regulations.

Route Planning: Determine optimal transportation routes, considering factors like cost, transit time, and mode of transportation. Select carriers and create transport plans.

Cargo Insurance: Recommend and arrange cargo insurance to protect goods from loss or damage during transit.

Warehousing and Storage: Coordinate the storage of goods in warehouses, managing inventory levels and ensuring safe handling.

Cost Analysis: Monitor transportation costs, analyze expenses, and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising service quality.

Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on international trade regulations, sanctions, and customs laws to ensure all shipments adhere to legal requirements.

Problem Resolution: Address any issues or challenges that may arise during transportation, such as damaged goods, customs delays, or disputes with carriers.

Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, such as weather-related disruptions or transportation issues.

Customer Service: Provide top-notch customer service by promptly addressing client concerns and maintaining open communication about shipment status and logistics solutions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

3 plus years of related working experience and knowledge

Strong understanding of international shipping and logistics regulations.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Attention to detail and ability to manage complex documentation.

Negotiation skills for securing favorable rates with carriers.

Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
