The Vehicle Control Software department in Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is a research and development team that focuses on developing innovative features that enhance dynamics, controllability, and efficiency of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles for the North American (NA) market. The team's key roles and responsibilities are:
New Technology Introduction to spearhead new technology concepts for future generation vehicle drive and motion control experiences for the NA market through in-house development as well as strategic partnerships with key technology hubs such as universities, startups and research labs
Control Algorithm Development to expand Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicle control capabilities in coordination with the R&D Headquarters and other internal/external project partners
Prototyping and Demonstration to develop prototypes and proof of concept demonstrations to various global teams within Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) for new vehicle control software functions targeted for the NA market
Virtual Development to develop and maintain simulation tools and environments that enable co-simulation of algorithms and virtual calibration optimization
Software Strategy and Planning to identify market trends and customer needs for key experience themes and selection of new concept ideas
Data Analysis for Production Applications to support requirements development and verification and software updates to improve product performance in the NA market.
As a Data Analytics Engineer within our growing team, you will lead and support the following:
Key Activities:
Help to build out the data and reporting stack from the ground up and provide data-driven insights to the vehicle controls software department
Analyze big data sets for trends and themes that drive project decision-making
Collaborate with product planning and quality teams to aid the vehicle controls engineering efforts
Prepare presentations with data visualizations
Analyze quality data and provide actionable insights for project portfolio
Utilize advanced data processing techniques to process anonymized customer vehicle data to aid in control algorithm development
Keep current with relevant emerging technologies and trends by attending conferences and workshops relevant to department and project goals, and identify opportunities for data and technology integrations and advancements
Interface with technical experts and subject matter experts from the R&D Headquarters in South Korea to establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with our global partners
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Data Engineering, or a related field of study
3+ years of data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting experience in a data intensive environment
Knowledge of data warehousing, data lakes, automation, big data processing and modeling techniques
Proficiency with Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Looker, Tableau, etc.
Proficiency in data analysis languages such as SQL, Python, and R
Foundational knowledge of vehicle quality reporting concepts
Experience in creating and evolving analytics workflows and processes, understand root cause analysis, and provide solutions
Highly organized and self-motivated to work as required, with a hands-on approach to navigate ambiguity and bring clarity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels in the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of data analytics experience in a related field
Proven track record in big data processing and extracting actionable insights from data sets
Expertise in SQL, Hex, ThoughtSpot, Sigma, Connect or Tableau, Excel, Python, R, Google Analytics
Lean Six Sigma certification / design of experiments a plus
Familiar with various machine learning and AI methodologies for Text Mining
