Mechanical Engineer

Skyfall Biologicals has a great opportunity to be involved at the beginning of a new production facility at our greenfield site in Geismar Louisiana. As the Maintenance Engineer, you will be part of the startup team that will improve the manufacturing process during the initial pilot plant operations followed by the design, construction and startup of the new commercial facility. Your position will be a hands on, putting into action, that which you have designed and have proposed through the use of sound mechanical engineering principles. You will assist with general maintenance and repair of plant equipment, buildings, plumbing, electrical and various other tasks required to maintain a safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility. You will also work alongside and assist our operations and engineering teams in the commissioning and startup of the plant equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and provide improvements of all EHS policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space, elevated work, emergency response and all others.

Issue Safe Work Permits for all jobs and tasks according to plant procedures.

Coordinate and/or perform general repair of plant equipment.

Develop and perform routine and preventative maintenance plans for critical assets.

Develop and oversee work scope for contract services such as HVAC, instrumentation calibrations…etc.

Develop scope for specialty inspections services: Fire protection, HVAC, Backflow Prevention etc

Troubleshoot and repair rotating equipment, boilers, chillers, and other assets.

Assist in developing a web-based maintenance application to track repairs, work order history, work plans.

Conduct daily housekeeping inspections and be involved with maintaining a clean plant.

Ensure proper and safe functioning of power tools and equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum two years of experience in chemical plants or manufacturing facility.

Hands on mechanical skills, knowledge of welding and PLC/DCS programming is a plus.

Willing to learn programming of PLCs and instrumentation control system troubleshooting.

Visible commitment to safety and proven effectiveness in working on teams.

Knowledge of relevant computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Candidates must be capable of tolerating outdoor temperatures and weather conditions, working in a noisy environment while wearing PPE, lifting to 50 pounds and climbing ladders and stairs. Candidates could be required to work flexible hours including weekends and overtime.
