Our client is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join a Global Process Development team as a Polymer Chemistry and Plastics Extrusion Subject Matter Expert. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in defining state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, developing processes for new products, and providing expertise to support our global manufacturing sites.

Position Overview: As an SME, you will become the focal point of expertise in polymer chemistry and plastics extrusion, contributing to ongoing projects and providing critical support to product/process development teams worldwide. Your responsibilities will span across defining manufacturing capabilities, developing processes for new products, supporting manufacturing sites globally, and offering strategic guidance to executive management.

Key Responsibilities:

Expertise Development:

Become the center of expertise in polymer chemistry and plastics extrusion, supporting interests globally.

Process Development:

Develop and define manufacturing processes and the equipment used in executing these processes.

Collaboration:

Serve collaboratively on cross-functional teams to innovate manufacturing processes concurrently with new product development.

Design for Manufacturability:

Provide design-for-manufacturability input to concurrent engineering teams, ensuring seamless integration of product and process development.

Cross-Functional Integration:

Integrate your expertise with other SMEs to enable successful manufacturing systems.

Project Involvement:

Lead and contribute to ongoing projects, including the development of plastics formulations, expansion of PVC film extrusion processes, and enhancing the reliability of extruded tubing supply.

Essential Duties:

Perform independent evaluation, selection, and application in making adaptations and modifications to projects.

Lead portions of major significant projects and hold total management responsibility for smaller projects.

Contribute to the development and effectiveness of the functional group, adhering to organizational policies and processes.

Implement and understand FDA or regulatory requirements as necessary.

Apply technology principles to multiple tasks.

Advise team members proactively on technical ideas and promote skill development.

Interact with peers across projects to secure resources and commitments.

Present complex technical information effectively and respond to questions from technical staff and management.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide work direction to technicians and junior engineers.

Collaborate with manufacturing and other functional groups on manufacturing and regulatory compliance issues.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 8 years’ experience in related fields.

Two years of GMP manufacturing experience required.

Skills:

Demonstrated skills in technical innovation, polymer engineering, and manufacturing.

Strong interactive skills, including communication, cross-functional collaboration, mentoring, and project management.

Mechanical and electronic aptitude for equipment troubleshooting.

Understanding of GMP practices and FDA regulations.

Strong technical problem-solving skills.

Knowledge and ability to implement FDA or regulatory requirements.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in relevant PC software applications.
