Saturday 7:00am-7:00pm

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional will provide habilitative assistance and care to clients in various Agency programs, including community and supported living arrangements, family support services program, and day/vocational program. The primary responsibilities include providing direct daily care, teaching, and supervising clients, as well as record keeping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Directly supervise clients, ensuring knowledge of their status and location at all times.

- Assist in the preparation and implementation of individual client's plans of service or individual educational plans.

- Teach, supervise, and assist clients in performing adult daily living activities, such as hygiene, personal care, eating, banking, shopping, meal-planning, clothing planning and care, community participation, and self-control.

- Monitor client progress on goals and report incidents of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.

- Complete incident reports and medication error reports.

- Implement behavioral plans and approved emergency restraints and procedures when necessary.

- Implement recommendations and programs from occupational, physical, and speech therapists.

- Develop and implement recreation and community participation activities.

- Collaborate with Clinical Director, Consultants, families, schools, and other agencies in providing and implementing goals.

- Maintain accurate and timely record keeping of services and goals.

- Collaborate with supervisory and other staff within the Agency and from other agencies.

- Attend required staff meetings, in-services, and trainings.

- Administer medications and provide routine health care and first aid.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of program sites.

- Transport clients to and from designated activities and programs.

- Conduct and participate in emergency drills.

- Complete Medication Certification program and maintain certification.

- Ensure accurate recording keeping of financial accounts.

- Perform other related duties as requested by the Program Director or Assistant.

Requirements:

- Successful completion of Medication Certification Program.

- Successful completion of PMT, CPR, and First Aid training program.

- Valid CT driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or behavior challenges, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

- Ability to read and interpret English documents.

- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.

Mathematical Skills:

- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.

Reasoning Ability:

- Ability to apply common sense understanding and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands:

- Ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

- Ability to exert force when needed for physical restraint procedures.

Work Environment:

- Moderate noise level in the work environment.

- Exposure to changing weather conditions while traveling.
