Our company is hiring for an experienced Residential Construction Purchasing Agent to join our finance team. The Purchasing Agent will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our projects, ensuring that all materials, supplies, and equipment are procured efficiently and cost-effectively. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in project management, vendor management, and the use of bidding software. This role requires a minimum of 4+ years of experience in a similar role within the residential construction industry.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Manage and oversee all purchasing activities, including sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for construction projects.

2. Collaborate with project managers and other team members to understand project requirements and ensure that all materials are available when needed.

3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts to ensure the best quality, price, and delivery times.

4. Utilize bidding software to manage bids, compare vendor prices, and make informed purchasing decisions.

5. Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers to stay ahead and make appropriate recommendations.

6. Ensure compliance with all company and industry regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all purchasing activities.

7. Manage and resolve any issues or problems that arise with orders or vendors, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines.

8. Regularly analyze and assess supplier performance, conducting vendor evaluations and audits as necessary.

9. Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the overall purchasing process.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

2. A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar role within the Construction industry.

3. Proven experience in project management, vendor management, and the use of bidding software.

4. Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure the best quality materials at the most cost-effective prices.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and team members.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions quickly and efficiently.

7. Knowledge of industry regulations, policies, and ethical standards related to purchasing.

8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

10. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to ensure accuracy in all purchasing activities.
