The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant, promote a high performance safety culture, lead the production of quality parts, and ensure required efficiency targets are achieved by maintaining equipment on a daily basis and providing technical guidance to a team of Production Associates.

Plant Manager assures that the plant's production objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements.

Essential Functions:

Operations

• Manage daily operations in our plant facility on Production requirements

• Promote a positive work culture and foster a collaborative approach with employees for continuous improvement

• Responsible for verifying production reports at the end of each shift (scrap, downtime, etc.)

• Develop and implement of continuous improvement ideas/6S projects and culture

• Prepare capex and ROI analysis

• Meet weekly with VP for strategic planning

• Control costs to achieve company budget goals

• Participate to solve daily production problems

• Ensure standard work instructions are being followed and report any changes required to the area Supervisor

• Direct and lead all operations to achieve monthly profit results with a focus on operations throughput

• Develop processes to increase productivity and enhance performance

• Lead Production Meetings

• Exercise direct supervision over managers and supervisors with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production to meet production schedules and delivery dates.

• Ensure KPI’s are achieved i.e. OTD, schedule adherence, overtime, attendance, productivity

Decision Making and Authority:

• Participate in the closure of Health & Safety Concerns

• Participate in Quality Decision

• Respond to training needs of hourly associates

• Establish priorities when faced with multiple projects

• Manpower, resources with support from Team Leads/ Supervisors

Leadership and Team Work

• Assist Supervisors / Team Leaders in hourly Performance appraisals.

• Assist with managing absenteeism, weekend coverage if needed with the Supervisors / Team Leaders.

• Oversee the rotation and cross-training of workers

• Participate in the Evaluation of temporary workers by completing the reviewing their performance after their required hours are fulfilled

• Continuously communicate with associates about their performance, morale, job satisfaction, health and well being

• Ensure the culture of the department is aligned with our vision, mission.

• Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Blue Giant Employee Handbook

Quality

• Full understanding of Quality policies and requirements and ensuring adherence.

• Conduct fixture checks after tooling adjustment to ensure parts are within the specification and coordinate with Quality Inspectors for approval before running production; able to sign off on a first & last off

• Communicate all internal/ external Quality issues daily

• Responsible for mentoring Supervisors / Team Leaders to ensure awareness to recent customer and internal issues, adherence to applicable quality procedures/work instructions and understanding of the consequences when these procedures/work instructions are not followed.

• Ensures issues affecting quality and customer requirements reported by Supervisors/Team Leaders are reported to quality on time

Technical Aptitude

• Troubleshoot equipment consisting of welding, robotics, Machine Shop Equipment, and Assembly.

• Changeover or assist with changeover of equipment, equipment components, or tooling to run different jobs.

• Understanding of Robotics. Ensure robot and PLC programs are modified in a manner that maintains or improves part quality and increasing longevity of the equipment and recognizing safety requirements.

• Preventative maintenance and repairs as required.

• Change welding consumables such as electrodes, caps and MIG weld tips, sealant, wire barrels, and nozzles as needed. Optimize the use of consumables to look for better products or optimizing the process.

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment and/or equipment components which cause down time in a timely fashion.

• Knowledge and able to Manually Weld

• Knowledge of Powder Coat Paint Systems

• Understanding the cycle time, bottleneck analysis and assistance on improvement

Health & Safety and Environmental

• Perform all work in a safe manner as per standard work and ensure Employees follows all Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and policies.

• Report potential environmental and safety hazards and all safety incidents immediately to Health & Safety Manager

• Participate in safety walks weekly and collaborate with relevant departments for corrective action

• Participate in 6S Implementation - ensure cells are clean and schedule is being followed.

• Communicate Safety issues

• Ensure required PPE available for all workers.

• Ensure proper waste separation (garbage, recycling, used gloves & rags) is understood and carried out by all employees within the area of responsibilities.

• Participate during internal and external Environmental and Health & Safety Audits when required.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
