The Jones Center at Ichauway is currently accepting applications to fill the Guest Services Manager Position in the Operations Department. The 28,500-acre research center is in southwestern Georgia between Albany and Bainbridge. The Center’s research, education, and conservation programs focus on ecology and natural resource management. Job Requirements: To provide overall guidance, direction, and coordination for the operational functions of housekeeping, housing, and food service. Works with appropriate Administrative, Research, Conservation and Education staff in planning meals, special events and other guest service’s needs. Responsibilities will include coordinating the services necessary to support Center planned events, workshops, visits, and other activities where support requirements cross over supervision lines. Must be able to use computer software to handle housing, space, food reservations, and to organize, track and report all activities. Coordinate all housing needs with the appropriate administrative staff. This includes seasonal workers, graduate students, meeting attendees and other guests. Provide coordination for the food service function at the Crossroads (meeting and dining center), the Ichauway Store and restaurant, the Woodruff House, and other spaces as needed. Participates in the operation as a working supervisor. Ensures that all staff are trained in ServeSafe, and Safety Training as related to their job. Coordinates Woodruff House utilization, including supervision of the Woodruff House staff. Responsible for coordination of food procurement with the staff. Responsible for the oversite and quality control of all functions held at the Woodruff House. Coordinate’s site-wide comprehensive housekeeping program. Purchases supplies and equipment needed to carry out the functions of Guest Services. Recommends hiring, retention, promotion and or termination of employees within the department. Trains, supervises, and evaluates personnel in the Guest Services Department. Works with the business administrator to prepare an operating and capital budget for the Guest Services Department. Oversees the operation of the Ichauway Store by creating and planning menus, purchasing food, handling sales, and maintaining staffing. If an outside proprietor is used, serves as the liaison between the Jones Center and the proprietor of the Ichauway Store. Will advise the store of upcoming center events. Will conduct ongoing quality control checks. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Guest Services Manager is encouraged to live on site to be available to respond to housing, guest relations and/or food service needs.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or a related field or technical training in all aspects of guest services. Experience in management of general housekeeping duties, food service and housing functions. Must have strong computer and organizational skills. Must have demonstrated record of positive supervisory relationship to workers and be able to work well as a team member.
