Job Purpose: The mission of the depot manager is to manage the receiving and loading of calves through the depot. This position is responsible for managing barn employees and drivers at their specified depot location. The barn manager oversees the proper care of the animals, supervises employees, and maintains buildings and grounds. This is a highly visible position, which requires constant interaction with employees and different dairies. It is understood that the manager will exercise extreme prudence and patience when dealing with different dairies, general public, and or employees, and will, under all circumstances, portray or reflect an attitude of quiet, friendly, compassionate, and professional demeanor.


Below is a list of basic responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Collecting EID’s, breeds, sex, DOB for health paperwork/reports weekly

• Loading/unloading calves

• Coordinating with Human Resources for hire/termination process for employees/manage employees

• Involved in interviewing candidates for open positions

• Delivering proper tags to the proper dairies (via Data Quality Assurance MGR)

• Communicating with GM to receive new routes for dairies

• Maintaining petty cash account and procedure; turning in weekly with receipts

• Train & implement feedings, scanning/traceability, loading, & documenting

• Maintaining calf health and reporting calf problems to Calf management

• Maintain bedding for barn

• Maintaining sanitation of facility

• Assist with veterinary treatments

• Manage employees’ schedules and general payroll hours tracking

• Overseeing the general maintenance and upkeep of the barn
