Engineering Technician

Position Title : Engineering Technician

Duration : Long-Term

Location : Fremont, CA

• Expert working knowledge of DSO’s, Analyzers, and other lab test and measurement equipment needed to verify signal integrity.

• Proficient at TDR measurements.

• Proficient at Eye Pattern measurements.

• Logic and analog theory.

• SMT/BGA/through-hole rework tools and techniques.

• Provide the skillsets needed for comprehensive component, PCB and system level debug and administrative skills along with a good understanding of signal integrity (SI) measuring and SI related activities.

• Use the available Oscilloscopes and analyzers and other test equipment to determine the quality of our signals. Capture and prepare written reports, using photos and writing skills to accurately document all findings. Report findings to the SI team leaders.

• Provide the services needed to organize and maintain a small development lab, usually housing only about half a dozen engineers. Keep area safe, benches organized and test gear calibrated, maintained and ready for use. Own the activities within this lab and ensure it’s always prepared and ready for any signal gathering activities.

• Must have a good understanding of Windows, Solaris and Linux operating systems and be prepared to help maintain a highly motivated Engineering Team when administrative activities are needed.

• Provide the services to administer InForm OS systems and maintain systems using our lab ticketing tool (Bugzilla).

• Add systems to the network as they become available for testing. This may include working with the Lab IT department to get networking hostnames, IP addresses and other information needed to successfully install systems onto the lab network.

• Provide experienced SMT and through-hole rework as needed.

• Comply with our cable management practices.

• Re-bundle and store cables that will be reused.

• Organize and label the cables as specified in our cabling guidelines.
