Position: Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)

Client: California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR)

Location: Multiple locations across California

Employment Type: Contract

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 12 continuous months of experience within the last 3 years performing Psychiatric Technician duties in a public or private institution. (Internship experience does not qualify.)

License: Current and valid California Psychiatric Technician License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT).

Language: Proficient in English, with effective verbal and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the institution's designated leadership, the Psychiatric Technician will:

Provide behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth.

Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patients' mental and physical conditions.

Administer medications and treatments within the scope of licensure.

Record vital signs and perform general nursing procedures.

Assist in developing and implementing treatment plans.

Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions as assigned.

Coordinate care with Registered Nurses, Physicians, and custody staff.

Observe and document changes in patients' conditions and behaviors.

Prepare patients for clinical appointments and maintain accurate documentation.

Perform first responder duties, including CPR and first aid, when required.

Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment in accordance with CDCR policies and procedures.
