Job Description

Senior Quality Manager Davie, Florida On-site

Build something, not maintain something. Lex Products' Davie, Florida site is our dedicated military and defense manufacturing operation, building power distribution units and cable assemblies for defense customers. We are growing the military business fast, rebuilding our certifications, and bringing on new programs, on our way to becoming an all-military site. This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity to shape how a defense site runs.

Why join us now:

Real ownership: you report directly to the VP of Defense Operations & General Manager, with visibility to the CEO.

Growth you can see: new military programs and customer wins are already coming in.

Florida has no state income tax.

A diverse, bilingual (English/Spanish) workforce and a leadership team focused on accountability, respect, and developing people.

The role

We need a hands-on quality leader to rebuild and own the Quality Management System at our Davie defense manufacturing site. You will lead us through AS9100 re-certification and QPL restoration, hold the line on compliance as we grow, and build a quality team and culture that earns the trust of our military customers. This is a build role, not a maintenance role.

Reports to and authority

Based on-site in Davie, FL, partnering daily with the VP of Defense Operations & General Manager.

Part of Lex's company-wide quality organization, led by the Director of Quality & Regulatory Compliance.

Leads the Davie quality team, including inspection and final product acceptance.

Has authority to stop production or shipment of nonconforming product.

What success looks like

First 90 days

Complete an assessment of the quality system and present a gap-closure plan to the GM.

Take ownership of the BV re-audit plan and corrective actions.

Meet every quality team member and set written expectations and development plans.

First 6 months

Pass the Bureau Veritas AS9100 re-audit (stage 1 and Stage 2) with zero major findings by Q1 2027

Stand up a corrective action system that closes root cause within 2 days.

Implement IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 on the floor, with certified operators.

First year

Restore QPL status by Q3 2027

Reduce customer escapes by 98%.

Bring customer quality scorecards to 95% or better.

Build a quality scorecard the site reviews weekly and presents to leadership quarterly.

What you'll do

Lead and maintain the AS9100 Quality Management System and all related procedures.

Serve as the primary quality contact for customers, prime contractors, auditors, and government representatives.

Run internal audits, management reviews, and material review board (MRB).

Lead root cause and corrective/preventive action; close customer escapes and audit findings.

Own first article inspection (AS9102) and final acceptance.

Lead supplier quality: qualification, performance monitoring, and corrective action.

Establish counterfeit parts prevention controls that meet defense requirements.

Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Contracts to hit quality goals.

Develop and coach the quality team and build a culture of ownership and accountability.

What you bring

Required

10+ years of quality experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing, including 5+ years leading quality teams.

Proven experience implementing or restoring an AS9100 quality system and leading a site through registrar audits.

Experience working directly with defense customers, prime contractors, and auditors.

Strong working knowledge of corrective action, internal audits, MRB, first article inspection, and quality metrics.

Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Must be a U.S. person as defined under ITAR.

Preferred

Electronics, cable, harness, or power distribution manufacturing experience.

IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 knowledge; IPC trainer certification a plus.

QPL or military specification qualification experience.

Familiarity with counterfeit parts prevention standards (such as AS5553).

ASQ CMQ/OE, AS9100 Lead Auditor, or equivalent.

Bilingual English/Spanish.

Who thrives here

You would rather build a system than inherit one. You'll run an MRB or walk a first article yourself in week one, and present a quality scorecard to leadership by month six. You hold the line on compliance when schedule pressure pushes back, and you develop people instead of just writing them up. You bring solutions, not excuses.
