Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, highly qualified Lead Direct Support Professional (Lead DSP) to oversee client care, mentor team members, and ensure smooth daily operations within our residential facility settings.

The Lead DSP provides hands-on care for individuals with developmental disabilities—including those with Level 7 or higher support needs—while serving as a role model and guide for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This full-time position requires 40 hours per week and involves direct contact, staff oversight, and administrative support to maintain a safe, structured, and high-quality living environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

Provide leadership, mentoring, and hands-on training to new and existing DSP staff.

Serve as the primary point of contact during assigned shifts and report resident or staffing concerns to the Administrator or Facility Manager.

Assist with staff scheduling, shift coverage, and daily workflow management.

Review daily shift documentation, incident reports, and behavior data for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.

Direct Care & Resident Support

Perform all standard DSP duties, including assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), grooming, personal hygiene, and meal preparation.

Ensure full implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP/ISP), Behavior Support Plans, and physician's orders.

Support residents in mobility, range of motion, self-help skill development, and community integration.

Promote resident independence, dignity, choice, and overall well-being.

Medical & Administrative Support

Ensure medications are administered, tracked, and documented strictly according to physician's orders and agency policy.

Coordinate and track medical, dental, and specialized therapy appointments, ensuring proper follow-up care.

Respond to crises and medical emergencies using approved CPI and safety protocols, providing clear guidance to staff.

Monitor facility cleanliness, safety, and organization to continuously meet licensing standards.

Participate in IPP/ISP meetings and assist in developing and executing program goals.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including experience with Level 7 or higher support needs.

Current Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.

Fingerprint clearance (Live Scan background check).

Health screening clearance and TB test performed under physician supervision within 1 year prior to or within 7 days of employment.

Schedule & Work Environment

Hours: 40 hours per week (Overtime structure applies per California labor regulations).

Work Setting: Group Homes and Adult Residential Facilities (multiple locations).

Skills & Competencies

Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to mentor team members.
