Position: Class A CDL Driver (Feed Operations)
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Mill & Location Manager
Compensation: Commensurate with Experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Class A CDL Driver to join our Feed Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting feed across designated regional routes, ensuring precise delivery to customer farms, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining equipment, operating safely under varying weather conditions, and representing Mid-Iowa Cooperative with professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Feed Delivery & Operations: Transport feed loads (up to 80,000 lbs. GVW) safely and efficiently; ensure correct feed is delivered to designated farm bins according to delivery instructions.
Cargo Handling & Maintenance: Safely load, unload, and secure cargo to prevent damage; immediately report and properly clean up any feed spills according to company protocol.
Vehicle Inspection & Compliance: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; maintain accurate driver logs, inspection records, and delivery details in full compliance with DOT regulations.
Route & Time Management: Utilize GPS and mapping tools to optimize routes, maintain delivery schedules, and manage time effectively.
Communication & Customer Service: Maintain clear communication with dispatch regarding schedules, route delays, or road conditions; promptly report customer concerns or delivery issues.
Professionalism: Maintain equipment care, proper personal appearance, and a high standard of customer service at all delivery sites.
General Duties: Perform other operational tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
Licensing: Valid Class A CDL with Air Brakes endorsement and a clean driving record.
Screening: Successful completion of a DOT Physical and pre-employment Drug Screen.
Experience & Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; mechanical or maintenance experience in an industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing setting preferred.
Operational Skills: Ability to confidently navigate changing road and seasonal conditions (mud, snow, ice).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Heavy Lifting: Ability to regularly lift and carry 50–75 lbs.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces or around grain bins.
Working at Heights: Ability to routinely climb ladders and stairs, and work safely at heights up to 15 feet.
Weather Exposure: Comfortable working outdoors in varying seasonal weather and temperature extremes.
