Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server / Azure Database Administrator to support enterprise-level Microsoft SQL Server database environments across both on-premises and Azure platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, security, ETL, Azure database services, migration, and high availability/disaster recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and support enterprise-level Microsoft SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms.
Perform database performance monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, and tuning.
Develop and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database code.
Implement and support SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and ETL workflows.
Support Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
Perform database migrations and integrations between on-premises SQL Server and Azure environments.
Implement database security using Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, Key Vault, and other security controls.
Monitor database environments using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
Support Azure Backup, high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, networking, and cost optimization.
Provide developer support, troubleshoot database issues, and participate in code reviews.
Work with third-party database monitoring and backup tools such as Redgate.
Ensure database environments meet enterprise security, compliance, performance, and availability requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
College degree – 4+ years
5+ years of Performance Monitoring & Tuning
5+ years implementing Security & Compliance, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
5+ years of Developer Support & Code Review
5+ years of dedicated hands-on experience managing enterprise-level Microsoft SQL Server environments
Strong expertise with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and SQL Server internals.
Advanced T-SQL development and troubleshooting experience.
Hands-on SSIS and ETL experience.
Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Backup.
Experience migrating databases between on-premises SQL Server and Azure.
Strong understanding of database security, networking, scalability, cost optimization, HA/DR.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Redgate monitoring and backup tools.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database environments.
Azure database migration and modernization experience.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Experience working closely with application developers and development teams.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior SQL Server DBA / Azure Database Administrator with strong hands-on experience managing enterprise SQL Server environments, performing performance tuning, implementing security/RBAC, supporting developers, and migrating and managing databases in Microsoft Azure.
