Position: Senior Salesforce Developer

Position Overview
The Senior Salesforce Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting customized Salesforce applications and related workflows on the Salesforce Service Cloud and Experience Cloud platforms.
The Senior Salesforce Developer will work as part of the technical team and collaborate closely with the Salesforce Portfolio Manager, Salesforce Administrators, Developers, various City of Baltimore agencies, and third-party vendors.
The role requires a strong understanding of existing Salesforce configurations and architecture, as well as the ability to troubleshoot application issues, analyze business requirements, recommend technical solutions, and implement customer-focused workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development & Support
Design, develop, test, and deploy Salesforce solutions using Apex classes, triggers, batch/asynchronous processing, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, and Flow/Process Automation.
Write clean, well-documented, maintainable, and testable code that meets Salesforce code coverage requirements and follows platform best practices and governor limits.
Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and third-party/City systems, including case management, GIS, and telephony systems, using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, and Platform Events.
Collaborate with 311 operations, City agencies, and technical teams to coordinate changes throughout development, testing, and deployment.
Create and maintain business and technical requirements documentation and conduct requirements reviews to communicate and manage functional enhancements.
Develop and maintain Salesforce dashboards, reports, and visualizations based on business requirements.
Partner with Salesforce Administrators on routine maintenance activities, including system monitoring and performance management.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within Salesforce and associated systems, including SQL Server and Heroku.
Monitor data quality and implement processes to improve data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
Technical Leadership
Develop an in-depth understanding of existing Salesforce solutions, configurations, integrations, and overall architecture.
Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship and guidance to other Salesforce developers.
Support release management practices, including Git, sandbox strategy, and CI/CD deployment tools such as Salesforce DX, Copado, Gearset, and Jenkins.
Evaluate existing processes, procedures, and development practices and proactively recommend solutions that reduce duplicate work and manual processes while improving reusability, efficiency, and quality.
Stay current with the latest Salesforce technologies, features, and industry best practices and recommend appropriate improvements.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Salesforce Platform Developer I certification is required.
Salesforce Platform Developer II, Application Architect, or other advanced Salesforce certifications are strongly preferred.
Required Experience
3–5+ years of hands-on technical experience in Salesforce development.
Strong experience with Salesforce development and customization.
Experience with Agile methodologies and practices.
Experience with mobile application development.
Additional / Desired Skills
Experience with Salesforce Web Services and integration technologies, including REST/SOAP APIs and middleware tools.
Strong experience with Salesforce Lightning development, including Apex, LWC, and Visualforce.
Strong knowledge of Salesforce data modeling, data management, and data security.
Deep understanding of data security best practices and the ability to balance data availability, accessibility, and security.
Experience working in a government or public-sector environment is highly desirable.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale Salesforce implementations and integrations is a plus.
