Employment Opportunity: This is a temporary assignment with the opportunity to extend or transition to a permanent position based on business needs. Permanent employment is not guaranteed.

Pay Rate: $66.00 per hour

Work Arrangement: On-site

Schedule: Full-time, rotating 10-hour shifts. Available shift times include 6:30 AM–4:30 PM, 9:00 AM–7:00 PM, 11:00 AM–9:00 PM, and 1:00 PM–11:00 PM. Candidates must be available to work every third weekend.

Shift Differentials: Second-shift differential of $2.50 per hour and third-shift differential of $6.00 per hour, as applicable to the assigned shift.

Overtime Pay: Calculated at 1.5 times the average standard hourly rate across first, second, and third shifts, according to the applicable pay structure.

Double-Time Pay: Calculated at 2 times the average standard hourly rate across first, second, and third shifts, according to the applicable pay structure.

Position Summary:

The Pharmacist is responsible for safely and accurately dispensing prescription medications, monitoring patient medication compliance, providing medication counseling, maintaining confidential patient records, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations. This role supports long-term care pharmacy operations through medication management, prescription verification, compounding, sterile solution preparation, inventory oversight, and supervision of pharmacy support personnel.

The pharmacist will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals to identify medication-related concerns, support appropriate treatment, and promote patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Prescription Management: Accept, review, verify, prepare, and dispense prescription medications accurately and safely.

Medication Compliance: Monitor patient medication adherence and identify potential medication overuse or misuse patterns.

Prescription Appropriateness: Ensure prescribed medications are appropriate for each patient's needs and identify potential medication-related concerns.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure medication dispensing and pharmacy operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.

Patient Counseling: Advise patients on proper medication use, dosage, administration, storage, potential adverse reactions, side effects, and drug interactions.

Medication Consultation: Provide guidance on prescription and non-prescription medications and respond to medication-related questions.

Patient Education: Educate patients on medication safety and the proper handling of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.

Preventive Health Services: Provide or support services such as smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management, as applicable.

Medication Compounding: Compound medications for internal or external use in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

Sterile Preparation: Prepare sterile solutions while following appropriate procedures and safety requirements.

Patient Record Management: Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records and pharmacy files.

Inventory Management: Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies.

Clinical Problem-Solving: Identify patient drug-related problems and communicate findings and recommendations effectively to physicians and other healthcare practitioners.

Staff Supervision: Supervise pharmacy support personnel, including pharmacy technicians and pharmacy clerks.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.

Quality Assurance: Follow established pharmacy procedures to promote prescription accuracy, medication safety, and compliance with applicable standards.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree required.

Licensure: Must hold an appropriate, active pharmacist license issued by the applicable state pharmacy board.

Medication Knowledge: Strong understanding of prescription and non-prescription medications, including dosage, administration, storage, side effects, adverse reactions, and drug interactions.

Prescription Verification: Ability to review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety.

Medication Monitoring: Ability to monitor patient medication compliance and recognize potential overuse or medication-related problems.

Compounding Skills: Ability to compound medications for internal and external use.

Sterile Preparation: Ability to prepare sterile solutions according to appropriate procedures.

Patient Counseling: Ability to explain medication instructions and provide clear, accurate answers to patient questions.

Documentation: Ability to maintain accurate and confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation.

Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, interns, and other healthcare professionals.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail when verifying prescriptions, preparing medications, monitoring inventory, and maintaining records.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage pharmacy responsibilities, documentation, and medication inventory effectively.

Supervisory Skills: Ability to oversee pharmacy technicians, clerks, and other pharmacy support personnel.

Regulatory Knowledge: Ability to follow applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and established medication safety procedures.

Schedule Flexibility: Availability to work rotating 10-hour shifts and every third weekend.

On-Site Availability: Ability to work on-site in Worthington, OH.

Preferred Qualifications:

Patient Education Experience: Experience educating patients on medication management, medication safety, and proper medical device use.

Preventive Care Experience: Familiarity with services such as blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol management, and smoking cessation counseling.
