Corporate Controller

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and accounting systems initiatives across a growing holding company and four operating businesses. The successful candidate will receive significant, close training by the current Controller.

This role is ideal for an accounting leader who enjoys building scalable processes, implementing technology solutions, and partnering with business leaders to improve operational performance. The Controller will oversee all accounting transactions, monthly close activities, consolidations, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting process improvements while serving as a key contributor to future systems and technology initiatives.

The position reports directly to executive leadership and will play a critical role in supporting continued growth through process standardization, automation, and financial visibility.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

Lead all accounting operations for five legal entities, including one holding company and four operating companies.

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

Prepare consolidated financial statements and management reporting packages.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash management, and general ledger activities.

Coordinate annual audits and tax-related activities with external advisors.

Develop and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.

Systems & Process Improvement

Serve as the accounting lead for ERP and financial software implementations.

Evaluate, redesign, and improve accounting workflows across multiple entities.

Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and operational efficiencies.

Partner with leadership to improve financial reporting, KPI visibility, and decision-support analytics.

Support development of a scalable finance and accounting infrastructure capable of supporting future acquisitions and growth.

Leadership

Mentor and develop accounting staff.

Establish best practices across all operating companies.

Collaborate with operations, HR, and executive leadership to improve business processes and financial discipline.

Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on accounting, reporting, and operational matters.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

4+ years of progressive accounting experience.

2+ years of experience working for private sector companies, i.e., not working for a public accounting firm

2+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager leadership role.

Experience managing accounting for multiple entities.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.

Experience leading accounting software, ERP, or financial systems implementations.

Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.

Demonstrated ability to improve processes and build scalable accounting infrastructure.

Preferred

CPA designation.

Deltek Vantagepoint experience.

Experience in professional services, engineering, architecture, consulting, construction, or project-based businesses.

Comfortable in a multi-company organization.

Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or rapid growth environments.
