Job Description
Trades Resource is seeking a skilled CMM Programmer / Portable Arm Metrology Specialist
This role is ideal for someone who can work independently, program inspections from scratch, and support advanced aerospace manufacturing operations.
Daily Responsibilities:
Program portable arm inspections from scratch (not just running existing programs)
Inspect aerospace components ranging from:
Small precision engine parts
Large structural/composite parts up to 10 meters diameter
Build inspection routines using:
CAD models
Engineering prints
GD&T callouts
Perform dimensional layouts and validate parts to spec
Use portable metrology equipment including:
Hexagon / FARO Arm
Laser tracker
Blue light laser scanner
Support multiple departments including:
Machine shop
Engine shop
Composite manufacturing
Document results and write inspection data / NCR-related findings
Set up, tear down, and relocate equipment when needed
Work directly with engineers to solve one-off inspection challenges
Required:
3+ years of CMM / portable arm programming experience
Strong GD&T knowledge:

Concentricity
Experience creating inspection programs from scratch
Ability to read prints, CAD models, and technical drawings
Comfortable working independently with minimal training
Strong organization and communication skills
Preferred:
Aerospace, defense, or high-spec manufacturing background
Experience with:
PC-DMIS
Calypso
PolyWorks
AS9100 / ISO quality systems experience
Understanding of machining, welding, and composites
Work Environment
This is low-volume / high-mix manufacturing, meaning every day can be different. Many inspections are unique and require critical thinking not repetitive production.
